Well I made the PAX one so I might as well make this one, I'm good at organizing stuff it seems.

Anyways this will be going on July 20-22 and will hopefully be at least a month ahead of PAX, but we'll have to wait and see when that is scheduled. Either way I'd like to still try and goto Otakon assuming that the two aren't in back to back weekends. How close together they are will help determine if I'm going to use a vacation day on this or not.

Anyways, who else is interested in going to Otakon this year? You honestly don't need to be an anime fan to go and have fun, but it does help.

Yeah it would be nice if someone besides me dressed up this year so you guys don't all make fun of me.

hmm this has gotten complicated.

Due to the fact Erik does not have a house there anymore, we'll need to likely stay in a hotel. Normally I wouldn't be against such a thing since I have a job and money now, but in August I will be flying to Seattle to goto PAX for certain and that will cost a reasonable amount of money. So I'm not sure I want to pay a lot of money to goto Otakon.

If enough people are interested I'd go (and prolly dress up again), but if not then between the two I'd much rather goto PAX.

So who is seriously interested in attending?

Hey Guys!

I am HOPING to have a house by June.  I have the money and the loan, I just need to find the house.  I'm saying the probability of a house bu June is around 95%.  It will mean we have to drive from DC to Baltimore, but its really not that much added driving.

So it sounds like we'll go if Doc has a place for us to stay for free, and we won't go if it involves hotels.

This sounds reasonable. I would definitely like to do both PAX and Otakon, but if we end up having to stay at a hotel just for Otakon, I might end up ducking out of going. And realistically, I'd much rather do PAX than Otakon - I've done Otakon twice, and I've always wanted to visit the west coast.

If we do go, I'm definitely doing a costume this year. And I'm not just blowing those words out my ass, either. I've already got a few ideas...

Word on the street is that Doc might have a new house, so I think we may be able to do Otakon.

Very true, I meet with the seller on Sunday to finalize the contract that we negotiated out.  Should be plenty of room for everyone for Otakon.

I settle on the house on Tuesday!  There is a lot of work that has to be done, but it should be livable by Otakon! Smiley

I wouldn't say so much as it needs to be "livable". More like you just need to be able to sleep in it overnight.

I did the whole "camp out overnight for a Wii" thing. I'm not too sure the sidewalk out front of a Target is what I'd consider livable. Tongue

Being that we don't have a cheap (ie. Free) place to stay this year, I've scheduled Doki-Lan during this time which effectively cancels Otakon for us this year. Sad I know, but maybe next year.

Guess I'll just stalk the Otakon/cosplay forums for pics and pretend I was there.

Yeah, I'm kind of sad not to be going, but really don't want to spend a lot of money on this since we're going to PAX. I'm sure we'll get our convention fill from that.
